The Crane and the Vixen.

Once upon a time a Crane and a Vixen were very fast friends. One day the Vixen invited the Crane to lunch at his place. He said, 'Dear friend! all my joys are yours. Whatever belongs to me is yours. Come, let us celebrate our friendship'. The Crane liked these words of her friend and went to attend the invitation on time. They chatted together and were merry until the Vixen presented the lunch to her friend. The Crane was astonished by what the Vixen did. The later poured in a thin layer some porridge in a dish and brought it to her friend. She said, 'Dear! let us share some porridge from this dish. I've prepared the porridge with much care for you'. The friends started having their lunch. The Vixen quickly licked away the major portion of the meal, while the Crane was unable to eat anything because her long beak did not allow her to lick away her food. The Crane understood the bad intentions of her friend, but she did not say anything. After lunch, the two friends parted away smiling and the Crane thanked the Vixen for the treat.
After some days the Crane thought of playing the same game with the crooked Vixen. She invited the Vixen to her place. The Vixen accepted the invitation. As the time of dinner arrived, the Crane prepared a soup in which she used small pieces of meat and some pieces of vegetables. She placed the food in a jar with a long neck and a narrow mouth. At dinner time the Crane said, 'Come dear! let us share something of this delicious soup from this pitcher'. The Vixen could only lick away what was on the rim of the pitcher. After having emptied the jar, the Crane asked her friend, 'Why dear? Don't you like the dinner? You have not taken anything!' To this the Vixen burst with anger and said, 'You wicked creature! How could I drink soup from a pitcher? You have presented the dinner in a fashion only suitable for you. So, you better have your dinner. I don't want to befriend a creature like you'. After patiently listening to everything, the Crane reminded the Vixen of the crooked actions of the Vixen at the lunch given by her. The Crane said, 'Why dear! If a Crane is supposed to lick away food from a dish, can't a  Vixen drink from a pitcher?' The Vixen understood that she has been paid back by her own coin. Thus their false friendship came to an end.
